MECON Limited, formerly known as (Metallurgical & Engineering Consultants (India) Limited) is a Public Sector Undertakingunder the Ministry of Steel of the Government of India. It began in 1959 as the Central Engineering and Designing Bureau (CEDB) of the Hindustan Steel Limited (HSL), the first public sector steel company. Subsequently, CEDB grew as Metallurgical and Engineering Consultant (MECON), a subsidiary of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in 1973. It later became an autonomous company reporting to the Ministry of Steel in 1978. 1st April is observed as Foundation Day in MECON.

Job Description and qualification:
Full time regular Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized Indian University / Institute (AICTE/UGC approved) in Mechanical & Civil disciplines with minimum 65% or 6.5 (if calculated out of 10 points) in aggregate of all years/ semesters. SC/ST candidates should have 55% or 5.5 (if calculated out of 10 points) in aggregate of all years. Aggregate = Total marks obtained in all years/ semesters/ Total of full marks of all years/ semesters
